My Canon Story

Georgina Goodwin is an award-winning documentary photographer specializing in nature, women and social issues. Based in Kenya, she is known for her impactful coverage of Kenya’s post-election violence, cancer, the Westgate terror attack, and refugees in Africa. Her image of a 30-second-old baby refugee Marion won the 2019 British Journal of Photography Portrait of Humanity Award.

With over 20 years of experience working across Africa, Georgina is also a mentor for the World Press Photo 6x6 Global Talent Program and the Vital Impacts Mentorship Program. A former Canon Ambassador, she is a Canon certified trainer and runs GGImages Media, a media agency that empowers storytellers. She is also co-founder of AfricaFotoChat, a platform bridging the gap for African photographers in the global industry.

Georgina’s work has been published by the NY Times, Elle, Vogue, and others, and exhibited worldwide in locations such as Times Square NYC, Bogotá, Tokyo, and The Louvre in Paris. She is also a two-time TEDx speaker and a member of Women Photograph and the East African Photography Awards panel.
