Quick tip: Taking photos for your blog post

Goal and aspiration

The planned blog post shows the production team. Both at work and as a portrait. Likeable, natural and professional. This is how the photos should look.

Invisible

I use a telephoto zoom lens to make myself invisible. I let the employees work normally and try to find interesting shots.  If necessary, I intervene discreetly: "Can you move a tic to the left?", but nothing more.

RAW

In this type of situation, I don't want to do without the advantages of RAW when editing. I can correct the exposure much better, adjust the colour temperature and bring out details.

Lens

The RF 70-200 F2.8L IS USM is perfect for this situation. An ideal zoom range and fast, with an integrated stabiliser.

Autofocus

As our protagonist is moving around at work, I choose servo autofocus. This keeps him (hopefully) in focus even during a series of shots.

Canon Camera Connect App

The Canon Camera Connect App allows you to be there live, view photos and make a pre-selection. A great tool for discussing images with clients on location.

Editing

Thanks to RAW and the power of current editing software, a lot can still be teased out of data. I aim for a natural and bright look.
