The terms Full HD, 4K and 8K are used to describe different resolutions in the video world. But what exactly do they mean - and when should you choose one over the other?
Filmmaker, Canon Video Ambassador and Academy Trainer Nicolai Deutsch answers these questions in this quick tip. Full HD corresponds to a resolution of around 2 megapixels, 4k to around eight megapixels and 8k to as much as 35 megapixels. The EOS R5's 8k mode provides more detail - but also more data. Depending on the application, a lower resolution may be more appropriate, for example when shooting longer concert footage, or if you want to reduce the amount of data for further processing in your video editing software.
